Synopsis :This DVD narrates Narpani Pearavai's development since it was first set up in Kallang Community Centre in 1977 as the First Indian Cultural Group (ICG).
The major events of Narpani Pearavai's history as narrated are as follows. The ICGs were renamed Indian Activities Groups (IAGs) in February 1990. In 2002, the Indian Activity Executive Committees (IAECs) were grouped together according to their respective GRCs. There are now 91 IAECs in Singapore. In January 2005, the Narpani Pearavai received the highest accolade in its history in hosting the congratulatory dinner given to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong by the Indian community in January 2005.
Throughout the DVD, there were interviews with several people such as Cpt. Govindaraju, Former Chairman (1987-1991), ICG Coordinating Council, Maj. (Ret) K. Thanaseelan, PBM, PBS, Former Chairman (1992-2002), Narpani Pearavai, P. Thirunal Karasu, PBM, Chairman, Narpani Pearavai, Jack Soh, PBM, CCC Chairman and R. Ravindran, MP for Marine Parade GRC and Adviser, Narpani Pearavai. All the interviews were in English except for the interview with Cpt. Govindaraju which was in Tamil with English subtitles.
There was also an abstract of a speech by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during the congratulatory dinner.
