  • Synopsis :

    Orchard Road, the Esplanade, the Merlion and the Singapore Flyer are unique to Singapore. So is Singlish, a colloquial form of Singaporean English. Singlish has words originating from English, Hokkien, Malay and other languages. In the programme, actress Irene Ang takes a light hearted look at the economical use of words in Singlish and why this is productive for Singapore. We then hear the meaning of common Singlish words and expressions like 'lah,' 'lor,'meh', 'alamak,' 'boh chap,''kiasu,' 'kaypo' and 'die die' and how they are used in everyday communication.
