Synopsis :The final part in a series of seven programmes on the Singapore General Election 2006. This features a profile of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong as he leads the People's Action Party in a General Election for the first time as Prime Minister. Analysts note that PM Lee's leadership style, distinct from that of former Prime Ministers Lee Kuan Yew and Goh Chok Tong, focuses on the younger generation which is important for Singapore's future. However, he has balanced this with addressing the needs of the older generation. PM Lee has called for an inclusive society with specific programmes for the less privileged, disabled and less educated Singaporeans. He has overcome health and family problems on the personal front to emerge as a strong leader who has encouraged a more liberal culture in the arts and entertainment scenes. He goes into election campaign with a strong economic growth forecast for the country. This, together with his moves to address the scourge of terrorism and the respect he won from the international community for initiating a meeting in Jakarta during the post-tsunami period, are likely to have a positive impact on voters during the election.
