  • Synopsis :

    This recording is an interview of Tunku Abdul Rahman, Prime Minister of Malaysia, by Dennis Frost for the 'From Ten O'Clock' program. The Tunku discusses the inadequacy of Malaysia's current defence arrangement with Singapore, as well as the uncertainty surrounding Britain's defence arrangement with Malaysia. He states his worries over whether Malaysia will be able to defend itself against a much larger nation without Britain's support. He speaks on his hopes for a top level regional defence conference between Malaysia, Singapore, Britain, Australia and New Zealand. The Tunku talks about what he feels the effects of the British withdrawal will be on the Malaysian and Singapore economies. He also comments on Lee Kuan Yew's fears that Britain my be left without membership of the European Economic Community.
