Synopsis :- Festin D'Immortalite (Feast of Immortality)
Choreography: Sakiko Oshima
The invasion of technology into our daily lives has altered the once clear-cut definitions of "body" and "soul" and of life and death. Now, a body that would have been "dead" by natural causes can be kept alive through technology. Technology, it would seem, have mastered Nature and redefined that which we once accepted without doubt: the notion that this is my body, this is "I", this is life and this is death. Has technology then only affirmed that the notion of the "body" and "I" is only an illusion?
'Le Festin d'Immortalite' explores this aggression of technology into Nature and issues arising, such as that of the illusion of the body and the soul, through dance. The challenge and the aim of the work lie in the transcendence of the body even though the art form itself uses the body.
