  • Synopsis :

    Recording is radio's coverage at Paya Lebar Airport of the Yang di-Pertuan Negara (YDPN) Yusof Ishak's departure for a state visit to Cambodia. He is accompanied by Puan Noor Aishah. Tthe commentator also tells listeners PM Lee Kuan Yew and Mrs Lee lead a group of cabinet members, assemblymen, senior civil servants, foreign mission representaives and well wishers to give YDPN and Puan Noor Aishah a ceremonial send-off.

    The commentaor outlines the scene at the airport, arrival of the YDPN, his inspection of the guard-of-honour and meeting the dignitaries. The YDPN with Puan Noor Aishah, escorted by PM and Mrs are driven up to the plane. A 17-gun salute is fired as soon as the YDPN enters the plane.

    YDPN is in Cambodia from 9-12 April. He and Puan Noor Aishah leave for Mecca to perform the haj after the official visit to Cambodia.
