  • Synopsis :

    Recording contains a talk on African Art by Professor Rolf Italiaander, a Professor of African History and Civilization. He is also an art collector and he holds exhibitions of African art all over the world. He visits Singapore recently and talks about his view on Asian art and the art scene in the South East Asia. He tells of his unpleasant find of imitation African art here in Asia, and the large amount of art pieces produced for tourists in this region. He gives an introductory background to African art, giving a comparison of timeline of the development and evolution of art pieces of African, European and Asian backgrounds. Professor Italiaander also speaks of the influence African art has on renaissance artists. This talk is the first of two by Professor Italiaander broadcast over Radio Channel I (English). His second talk on Racial Relations' will be broadcast the following week.
