  • Synopsis :

Story narrated by Singapore storyteller Lee Dai Soh.

    (1) When the heat increases during the day, the bamboo begins to split and Cheung is thus able to free herself. Safely home, she tells her daughter that she will go in search of her teacher to replace her head. Lum Kuin hears of the news from Poon, the owner of the inn which Lum Tse Yun is staying at, that he has been missing for several days. She finds out that Fah Wan Hong goes to a magician's place everyday and Poon suggests engaging another magician to deal with Fah.
    (2) Lum Kuin locates Fah Wan Hong and she tries in vain to wake Lum Tse Yun up. She pleads with Fah to help Lum and Fah in turn, begs Lum not to let word spread that she is the daughter of a magician. But the lady boss at the brothel Fah is working at had heard the news and asks her to leave. Fah has no choice but to pack her bag and return to her mother's. Cheung goes in search of her teacher, Pak Chap. But Pak is unable to help her now as the different factions of magicians are in conflict.
