  • Synopsis :

Themes of kinship and love are central to this heart warming family drama series set against a background of economic recession, retrenchment and re-employment. Beautiful Connections begins with the lives of a single-parent family, headed by a domineering and unreasonable mother, played by veteran Hong Kong actress Zhu Mimi. The three daughters characters are very different as a result of their mothers (Fatty Zhen) upbringing. Pretty MediaCorp newcomer Jeanette Aw, plays the brainy but obnoxious Ke Ke. As Mummys little darling, she gets to bully both her elder sisters, Ke Lian and Ke Li played by luminous Huang Biren and 2001 Star Awards Best Actress Aileen Tan respectively. Ke Lian and Ke Lis happiness have been shortchanged to create more opportunities for their youngest sister. Unlike Fatty Zhen and Ke Ke, both Ke Lian and Ke Li are better able to adapt to society. Ke Lian eventually finds true love, while Ke Li finds happiness in her own family and career. It is only in the face of an about economic crisis that the arrogant Fatty Zhen and Ke Ke learn about humility and the importance of maintaining good human relationships. While Beautiful Connection reflects on the harsh realities and pressures of working life, it also shows that there will always be hope and warmth, even during a depressing time such as an economic crisis.
