Synopsis :Three segments covered in this programme:
1. Government Parliamentary Committees - examines how independent Singapore's Government Parliamentary Committees (GPCs) will be and how far the GPCs will be allowed to go in presenting alternative views on government policies, with the set-up of nine GPCs in a move to give the country's Members of Parliament (MPs) a more direct influence in policy-making.
2. The British Surrender -Revisited - in this segment, Louis Allen, author of several books on the subject of the British Surrender, separates popular beliefs from historical facts, in the light of the anniversary of the fall of Singapore to the Japanese almost half a century ago on 15 February 1942.
3. SESDAQ - looks at the objective and function of SESDAQ (Stock Exchange of Singapore Dealing and Automated Quotation) , and the validity of the Asian Wall Street Journal's claim that the Singapore government will use the new exchange to "unload state-controlled and government-backed companies".
