Synopsis :This sound recording comprises 2 parts:-
1. 80 Years of Girl Guiding in Singapore - a narration of the history of girl guiding in Singapore in 1917; its early beginnings, aims and objectives of the movement; its rapid expansion; story of Mrs Elizabeth Choy's (a former girl guide) ordeal during the Japanese Occupation; commencement of activities after the war; expansion of patrol groups at other schools; increased participation of local guides in leadership positions; consolidation and restructuring of the movement during merger with Malaysia in 1963 and separation in 1965 respectively; hosting of international seminars and conferences in later years.
2. A collection of 45 brownie songs including Billy Manja, Pitter Patter, The Swan Sings and Do Your Ears Hang Low.
