Synopsis :1. Singapore: Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong has made changes to the Cabinet to renew the country's political leadership. He has created a new Coordinating Minister for Security and Defence and promoted three young ministers to take charge of the ministries. (00:03:05)
2. Singapore: The current Minister of Information and the Arts (MITA), David Lim, has asked to return to the corporate sector. He will leave MITA on 11th May. (00:05:25)
3. Singapore: Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre will be rescheduled to open at a later date. Workers at the centre will have their home quarantine orders extended by five days. Nurses will be deployed to check their health next week. (00:05:57)
4. Singapore: Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre will reopen on 5th May. No new case has been reported. Six patients have been discharged with 39 in hospital. The total number of cases remained at 199. One death has been reported, bringing the death toll to 22, while 2 807 are on home quarantine. (00:07:42)
5. Singapore: Hospitals are looking into technology to keep communication lines open for patients and their families after implementing a no visitor rule to curb the spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). (00:08:41)
6. Singapore: Stalls of 80 wet markets and food centres will close for cleaning and disinfection today. The other 54 markets have up till 5th May to clean the premises. The massive clean up is voluntary and is part of the National Environment Agency (NEA)'s efforts to prevent the spread of SARS. (00:11:37)
7. China: World Health Organization (WHO) said that SARS has peaked in Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam but not in China which holds the key to controlling SARS. WHO urged Beijing to tell the public more on how to fight SARS. Nine deaths and 203 new cases have been reported. (00:13:35)
8. Vietnam: World Health Organization (WHO) declared Vietnam as the first country to have contained SARS and lifted the travel advisory on Vietnam. No new case has been reported since 8th April. Authorities took early action and cooperated closely with WHO to curb the spread of SARS. (00:14:08)
9. Malaysia: Health authorities have sealed off a mental hospital in Kuching, Sarawak, after a suspected SARS death. 500 people are on quarantine. People who violated the Home Quarantine Orders should be subjected to public condemnation. (00:14:28)
10. Indonesia: Indonesia reported its first suspected SARS death. (00:14:49)
11. Hong Kong: 14 new cases are reported. The high population density of the territory continues to make full containment difficult. (00:15:13)
12. Business: (00:19:52) Singapore's industrial output grew by 6.5% due mainly to strong pharmaceutical production. Electronics sector expanded 2.9% while the manufacturing sector also grew 6.5%. (00:19:52)
13. Business: Leong Hin Holdings' shares continued to plummet on fears of further sales by its controlling shareholders. Records from Singapore Exchange (SGX) showed these shareholders have each sold two million shares on Friday to meet financial obligations. (00:20:20)
14. Iraq: Iraq's administrator has pledged to create a new democratic Iraq. (00:21:26)
15. Iraq: Iraq's former deputy prime minister reportedly told United States (US) interrogators that Saddam survived the coalition air strikes meant to kill him. (00:22:26)
