  • Synopsis :

    1)  Singapore: Two Muslim students continue to attend school with their tudung as their parents ignore the deadline for their children to conform to school rules on uniforms. A third Muslim student is absent from school. (00:03:11)

    2)  Singapore: Minister for Education, Teo Chee Hean, warned the different communities that if they try to expand their individual space in society, it would be at the expense of common ground shared by all Singaporeans. The challenge is to expand and preserve this common space. (00:05:44)

    9)  Business: The government may ask private money managers to provide tailor made pension plans for Central Provident Fund (CPF) savers. This could help to simplify investment choices and cut administrative costs. (00:17:49)

    10)  Business: United Microelectronics Corp in a joint venture with Advanced Micro Devices will build a second wafer fabrication plant in Singapore. (00:18:19)

    11)  Business: United Overseas Bank (UOB) will introduce a wage freeze for its employees and Overseas Union Bank (OUB) staff. (00:18:48)
