Synopsis :Banner announcing the three occasions: care for historical objects, Adopt-The-Esplanade Park by schools and the marking of Queen Elizabeth Walk as a historic site, on 31 July 1999; Master-Of-Ceremony (MC) welcomes Guest-Of-Honour, Associate Professor (Assoc Prof) Ho Peng Kee, Minister of State for Law and Home Affairs, Associate ; observance of a minute's silence as a mark of respect for First Lady Mrs Ong Teng Cheong, who passed away the day before.
Chairman of National Youth Achievement Award Council (NYAAC) and National Parks Board, Professor Leo Tan, speaking on the Adopt-A-Park scheme which has participants from 30 educational institutions, uniform groups and grassroots organisations; British High Commissioner Alan Hunt speaking on the strong links between Singapore and the United Kingdom; Assoc Prof Ho speaking on the the historical monuments along the park -Tan Kim Seng fountain, Lim Bo Seng memorial and Cenotaph, and the Queen Elizabeth Walk which was formerly known as the Esplanade; Assoc Prof Ho presents mementoes to the participating schools from the North Zone cluster.
