  • Synopsis :

Liu Bei is finally informed of Guan Yu's death and faints upon hearing the news. Liu Bei vows to send his armies to punish Wu. Zhuge Liang stops him and advises that it is best not to mobilise their armies until Wei and Wu are at war. In Luoyang, Cao Cao is distressed by dreams of Guan Yu. His officers suggest building a new palace. The architect advises that a pear tree should be chopped down for the main beam. Refusing to believe that the tree is possessed by a spirit, Cao Cao slashes the tree down. Cao Cao then starts to have unbearable headaches and the physicians fail to cure him. When the famous physician, Hua Tuo, is summoned, he suggests cutting his head open. Cao Cao then accuses Hua Tuo of being Guan Yu's accomplice and orders him to be thrown into prison. Hua Tuo dies ten days later.
