Synopsis :

After the injury on his arm heals, Guan Yu plans to attack Fan Cheng (樊城) again. Cao Cao learns of this and assembles his generals to plan their defence. He asks Sun Quan (孙权) to attack Jing Zhou (荆州) in order to draw Guan Yu away from Fan Cheng. He promises to cede land in the Jiangnan area in return for his help. Sun Quan and his men come up with a plan where the Governor of Lu Kou, (陆口) Governor Lü Meng (吕蒙) pretends to be ill and needs to return to his hometown recuperate. Lu Xun (陸遜) is then appointed Governor in his place. As the new Governor, Lu Xun sends gifts to Guan Yu asking for peaceful relations. Guan Yu is of the opinion that Governor Lu is relatively young and has not achieved much in his career and therefore not a threat. He turns his attention away from Jing Zhou to concentrate on attacking Fan Cheng. When Sun Quan ascertains that Guan Yu has not made arrangements for Jing Zhou to be well defended, he heads towards it with 30,000 soldiers and more than 80 ships.
