Synopsis :Guan Yu's (关羽) arm is injured by a poisoned arrow leaving Guan Ping (关平) concerned and suggests they return to Jing Zhou (荆州) to seek medical treatment. Guan Yu refuses and asks Liao Hua (廖化) and Guan Ping to challenge the Wei army in Fan Cheng (樊城). Guan Yu then plays chess with Ma Liang (马良) when a doctor, Hua Tuo (华佗), comes to see Guan Ping. Guan Ping is thankful that Hua Tuo has come specially to treat Guan Yu. Hua Tuo suggests that Guan Yu's arm be secured to a ring to avoid movement while he scrapes off the areas affect by the poison. Guan Yu refuses and continues drinking wine and playing chess while Hua Tuo operates on him.
