Ep. 41
Shortly after seeing Daizong off, Wuyong suddenly realises that he has made a terrible error in the fake letter. Having revealed what was wrong with the letter, Wuyong offers his suggestion as how they can save Daizong and Songjiang. Meanwhile, Prefect Cai takes Huang Wenbing's advice and discovers that the letter is forgery. Consequently, Daizong and Songjiang are sentenced to be decapitated.
Ep. 42
Six days later, Likui and a large group of men from Liangshan Marsh come to the execution grounds. Having fought off the soldiers, they rescue Daizong and Songjiang and flee. Later, a total of twenty-six leaders from Liangshan Marsh, together with Songjiang, Daizong and Likui enter the White Dragon Temple where they exchange formal greetings. Shortly after, all of them make their escape and head for the manor of Squire Mu before the government troops arrive to arrest them. After meeting Squire Mu, Songjiang vows to attack Wuweijun and kill Huang Wenbing to have his vengeance.
Ep. 43
Xueyong volunteers to go to Wuweijun to reconnoitre. Two days later, he returns with a man called Houjian, a tailor, who has been working in the home of Huang Wenbing. Incidentally, Houjian is also good with the lance and staff, a skill which Xueyong has taught him. With the information provided by both Xueyong and Houjian, Songjiang works out a plan whereby Huang Wenbing and his whole family are wiped out shortly afterwards. After getting his revenge, Songjiang decides to join the brothers in Liangshan Marsh.
Ep. 44
Upon arriving at Liangshan Marsh, Chaogai's requests Songjiang to take the seat of highest leadership but the latter declines. Three days later, Songjiang insists on returning home to fetch his father. Upon returning to his village, he waits till dark before knocking on the rear gate of his home. His brother emerges but he urges Songjiang to hurry back to Liangshan Marsh to get reinforcements because the county sends constables and soldiers to keep a close watch on them. Songjiang immediately turns and hastens off. Songjiang enters an ancient temple to hide as he is being pursued by forty to fifty soldiers.
