    Recording continues Aljunied CCC (Citizens' Consultative Committee) and MacPherson CCMC's (Community Centre Management Committee) Hari Raya And New Year Celebrations Dinner held at the MacPherson CC. This dinner is also in honour of three members. Deputy Prime Minister Dr Toh Chin Chye is the guest-of-honour.

    Recording contains last segment of speech by Dr Toh, who focuses on national consciousness and need for leadership. He says the lesson Singapore is developments in Vietnam and believes Singaporeans do not want 'to face same disintegration as seen in other independent countries'. Not to be divided, he stresses, Singapore has 'a strong base to build on its multi-racial society' and after two years of independence has built 'a national consciousness' and the people are 'aware of the necessity to rely on themselves for own security come end of 1971 with British withdrawal. When all the people are 'united for a common purpose, the future of Singapore is bright', have 'leadership at all levels' and 'a government who understand their aspirations and hopes' the people do not 'need to fear mid 1970s'.

    Tan Joo Kheng gives a speech of thanks including announcing the three recipients of the President's awards for 1966 and 1967 respectively by See Peng Lim, Treasurer, MacPherson CC and Lee Yoke Joo, Chairman MacPherson CC who both receive the BBM, and Francis Thomas, Principal, St Andrew's School, who gets the Justice of Peace.
