Synopsis :An eye witness account of the arrival of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Malaysia's first paramount ruler, and his consort the Raja Permaisuri Agong at the Paya Lebar International Airport for their first state visit to Singapore. On hand to welcome them are Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, the Yang di-Pertuan Negara of Singapore, state dignitaries and members of the armed forces. On arrival, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Raja Permaisuri Agong are given a red carpet welcome with a 21-gun salute. They walk under large, yellow umbrellas to a dias where the King takes the salute before inspecting the Guard of Honour. He leaves the tarmac with Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew and the Yang di-Pertuan Negara and shakes hands with state dignitaries and guests who include the Head of the Civil Service and the Chancellor of the University of Singapore. The Royal visitors then get into Rolls Royce cars waiting for them and move off. The Guard of Honour, state dignitaries, members of the armed forces and other guests disperse.
