Synopsis :Recording contains Malayan Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman's recorded statement on the Malaysia Talks in London before he begins a news conference at the Residency in Kuala Lumpur prior to his departure to London later that day to sign the Merger Agreement. He says:
- On the whole, if Singapore agrees that Malaysia is a good thing for all concerned, Singapore must be prepared to make a little sacrifice (for good of nation as a whole);
- Rich shows wealth with poor since Merdeka time; make contributions from time to time;
- New states joining Federation must make it their duty and responsibility to do likewise;
- Points for which differences have been encountered: (a) Federal Revenue collected by Singapore, (b) Common Market, (c) Contribution of $10m by Singapore annually towards development of the Federation of Malaysia, (d) Brunei's entry into Malaysia and financial arrangements proposed;
- Call for sincerity between all concerned parties;
- Expression of appreciation to Tun Abdul Razak, Tan Siew Sin and Lim See Onn for the patience shown in their negotiations.
