Synopsis :1) General Description:
Filming is done at two locations: a) Chinatown at Pagoda Street and Trengganu Street; b) Chinese Garden in Jurong.
2) Content Description for Chinatown:
Banner (in English & Chinese) put up at one end of street - Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 1998, 25 September-5 October 1998.
General shots - street with stalls on both sides; people walking in various directions, with some stopping at stalls. In between zoom in on name sign of 'Pagoda Street' on wall of building.
Film name sign of ""Trengganu Street' on wall of building.
People various races moving about in various directions; stalls with display of lanterns hanging down, pomeloes arranged on table top; boxes of moon cakes; middle-aged woman stallholder, stitting down and talking to another woman.
More mooncakes displayed - in squares boxes, some in rolls of white paper (Teochew type); more lanterns - in various designs and sizes, some the traditional types and some 'more modern'; displayed 'hanging up' are lots of 'piglets' in colourful plastic 'pig baskets' and pomeloes.
Huge paper lanterns also suspended from 'ceiling' of stall canopy.
Glass cabinet full of mooncakes arranged in rows.

(00:22:49) Signboard again - Lantern Festival 1998; sign on ticket sales in Chinese, English. Two ticket booths - few persons buying ticket. Information boards on daily highlights, special programmes; various gardens - Chinese, Japanese, Suzhou-style Penjing Garden.
(00:23:46) Strings of lanterns - lit up - hanging from trees; more people walking forward, close up of pagoda. Jumping pingpong-like balls from a huge white base with eight segments. Stall with lots of green stuffed toys hanging from stall ceiling. Colourful swans and lotus, lit up floating on water. Behind these part of café and several sitting at tables.
(00:25:56) Stage with backdrop in Chinese. MC, off camera, making announcement. Includes three items: couple dancing, man reciting some words, throwing a chilli on a string to audience, dance with three women and two men, all accompanied by canned music, song. Long shot of stage, back of sizable crowd of people standing to watch.
(00:33:56) Banner on Free Lanterns to Children, daily while stocks last (in English, Chinese). Children, accompanied by adults, coming up to counter to collect a lantern each, some shaking head to ones they do not want. Children lighting up their lanterns with help from adults, some doing it themselves. Children walking round, holding their lanterns, various shapes and colours. Two boys holding hands and walking on with their lanterns, older one turning and giving a smile likely to the NHB camera.
(00:41:36) Two banners in Chinese, English - Return Props to Counter after Use; Free Do-It-Yourself Folk Performance. On table drums of various, shapes, sizes. Children trying out the drums. Small stall selling lit up lanterns with animal design, some parents buying for their children.

(00:42:24) Banner (in Chinese, English) China Jiangnan Lantern Show. Another banner - official opening of festival by Teo Chee Hean on 24 September 1998. Huge display of lanterns of various designs, Chinese lantern shapes, sizes, colours; all lit up; suspended from ceiling; huge paper tiger, with 'moving' head, also lit up.
Name sign - Tradition Suzhou Lanterns. Two giant lanterns, Chinese lantern style, in red, resting on a stand. Close up of one -rotating lantern within another lantern. Display on mini stage like - colourful paper dragons, fish, others, suspended above three rows of balls of green with lighter shade border. Several take photos with this display in background. Group of young men in orange top, with two carrying one dragon head each, several others playing cymbal, drums, other instruments. Local traditiona lantern made of colourul trancing like paper in traditional shapes of fish, cock, etc.
(00:49:02) Banner (in Chinese, English) - Piggy's Wedding. Display of sedan chair with two carriers, Piggy walking in front beside the sedan. Monkey God standing on big rock look down at Piggy, next to him is fellow 3rd disciple 'Sand Spirit'.
(00:47:58) Stage. Little girl on stage, holding a mike, singing to canned music. Camera cut to people walking across bridge with lanterns put up on either side. Archway.
(00:49:18) Ostriches - various colours, sizes, position, all lit up - standing on water. Huge colourful lanterns hanging from ceiling. Paper figure of Nezha on his two wheels standing on dragon above water. Nearby are other animals on water, including mean in a sampan. Several huge insects of various colours.
(00:50:17) Banner (in Chinese, English) - Riddles - several Chinese script written on paper put up on panel. Crowd of onlookers. Few taking part, one woman adding the words on relevant riddle, another woman hit drum for every correct word.
(00:53:08) Back to people walking around - adults, children, some carrying lanterns. Again back to colourful animals on water - dragons, swans, and lotus.
(00:54:02) Giant peacock with tail - made of several heart shapes - open up. People taking photos.
(00:54:18) Stage with Hokkien opera being performed by two artistes. Banner (in Chinese, English) Hokkien KongHuay Recreation Club, Bukut Panjang. Audience watching performance. Musicians playing, sitting in front of state.
(00:58:14) Few outlets selling lanterns - mix of modern and traditional types. Children buying with parents. Again children playing with free lanterns.
(00:59:21) Ticket booth for car rides, like merry-go-round. Various types of cars. Most are occupied. Crowd standing round, some just looking. Next 'door' is horse merry-go-round, with four horses. Only one boy taking the ride.
