Synopsis :This is a recording of a talk on "Raffles And The Tradition He Left Behind" given by Mr G.G. Thomson, Director of the Political Study Centre. He is addressing members of the Rotary Club. Mr Thomson gives an interesting account of the life of Sir Stamford Raffles, the Founder of Singapore, from the time of his childhood days until his death. He discusses the inheritance that Raffles had left behind and refers to him as the catalyst of Asian history. The talk contains interesting information on the economic and social aspects of life in the early days of Singapore.
