This tape contains the speech of thanks made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs S Rajaratnam at the 20th General Assembly on Singapore's admission to the UN.

Calling it a momentous occasion, Mr S Rajaratnam sees UN membership as international endorsement of Singapore's sovereignty and integrity. He pledges Singapore's support for the aims and ideals of the UN. He also explains why Singapore has chosen the path of non-alignment.

Mr S Rajaratnam rounds off his speech by reaffirming Singapore's faith in the UN.
