Synopsis :This "Food - The Singapore Flavour" programme is about the local foods that reflect the different ethnic groups in Singapore. It examines the traditional food and culture of the Indians, Malays, Chinese and Peranakans.
Violet Oon, a food writer, shares a little insight into Peranakan cooking. Isla Sharp, looks at the blend of food brought about the diverse ethnic groups in Singapore. Hazizah Md Ali, restaurant head chef, explains the tradition of Malay cooking. Lee Seow Mong, author of 'Spectrum of Chinese Culture', talks about the Chinese New Year reunion dinner. The programme also featuresa typical South Indian meal and a banana leaf lunch.
