Synopsis :

This programme documents the first experience of the Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) in Singapore from Toa Payoh to Yio Chu Kang. It features the inauguration of the Phase One of the MRT, attended by Second Prime Minister Ong Teng Cheong and Second Minister of Defence (Policy) Dr Yeo Ning Hong. It also introduces the structure and system of the MRT - how it is built, how it runs and the construction process of the transport tracks. The programme also features speeches by Chairman of Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Mr Michael Fam, and Second Minister of Defence (Policy) Dr Yeo who asks Singaporeans for their co-operation while the second phase of the MRT is being constructed. Comments by several Singaporeans are also featured, showcasing their opinions and thoughts on the new transport system in Singapore that will change both landscapes and lifestyles.
