Synopsis :This "A Chinese Marriage - Three Documents Six Rites" programme takes a look at the customs and traditions of a Chinese wedding. Mr Tan Sri Lee Siow Mong, Chairman of the China Society, explains what are the three documents and six rites of a Chinese wedding. The programme then compares the wedding traditions of the past and present. Some of the rites that are still practiced today include the presentation of gifts, the hair grooming ceremony and the tea ceremony.
The programme also looks at a mass wedding that was organised at the Victoria Memorial Hall.
