Synopsis :This is a recording of the inauguration of the Victoria Concert Hall. It is inaugurated by Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. In his speech, PM Lee touched on:
- The milestones of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO);
- The growing interest in cultured music in Singapore;
- Careers in music;
- Musical talent in Singapore;
- SSO's philosophy.
The inauguration is followed by performances by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. The SSO performs three works, under the baton of conductor Choo Huey:
- 'Rosamunde Overture' by Franz Schubert
- 'Symphony No. 6 in F Major (Pastoral Symphony)' by Ludwig van Beethoven
- 'The Horse Cart' by Ge Yan
