  • Synopsis :

This programme takes a look at the new Changi Airport, which was opened in 1981. It shows the construction process and the reclaimation project at Changi beach to make way for the new airport. Due to several issues, the airport at Paya Lebar had to be relocated. The programme shows why Changi was chosen as the new location. It follows the construction process of the passenger terminal, control tower, cargo terminal and hangar. Other works include landscaping around the airport and along the coastline. A simulation excercise allows workers to test out the facilities before the official opening of the airport.
