Synopsis :Barely 3 months before Singapore surrendered to the Japanese, the mood on the island was confident. The celebrated capital ships HMS Price of Wales and HMS Repulse had sailed into port on the 2nd December 1941 wth a flotilla of ships as part of Force Z to intimidate the Japanese from ever launching an invasion.
The Repulse was a Renown-class battlecruiser of the British Royal Navy bult during the First World War. As part of a fleet of ships meant to prevent a show of force by the Japanese, the reverse happened. On 10 December, when the Fleet was just 60 miles east-north-east of Kuantan, the Repulse was attacked by high-level bombers at 11.00am. Despite fending off the initial attack, the Repulse was sunk with the "unsinkable" H.M.S Prince of Wales.
