Australian War Memorial Collection

About Project

The Australian War Memorial has recorded the war experiences of Australians, both military and civilian. The interviews in this collection pertain to Singapore, such as the fall of Singapore (e.g. Frank Gaven and Gorden Nichol), life as a prisoner of war (e.g. Sir Adrian Herbert Curlewis) and operations during the Malayan Emergency (e.g. Roy Carlin). Besides military interviewees from the army, navy and air force, there are also nurses who were posted to the region (e.g. Edna Nell Doig, Ada Corbitt Syer, Judith Wallace) and a media correspondent during the Second Indochina War (Anthony Langbene Ferguson).
