Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA)
On 1 Dec 1999, the Telecommunication Authority of Singapore was merged with the National Computer Board (NCB) to form the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA), a statutory board under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT).

The IDA oversees both IT and telecommunications, related or emerging infocomm industries, as well as the technical aspects of broadcasting regulation.  It develops infrastructure-related strategies and policies to ensure the development of an advanced and cost-effective info-communications infrastructure to meet the needs of Singapore.

The IDA's mission is to spearhead Singapore's drive to be a vital global info-communications centre, catalysing Singapore's transformation into a knowledge-based digital economy and society. It will play a leading role in establishing Singapore as an info-communications hub, and a vital node in the global infocomm network.
