  • Synopsis :

Story narrated by Singapore storyteller Lee Dai Soh.

    (1) Pak Chap brings Cheung to the chief magician from the central region and he suggests that she be decapitated so that a new head can grow in its place. Lum Kuin suggests that Fah Wan Hong get another magician to help revive Lum Tse Yun and Fah agrees even though this would cause her mother to suffer. Leung Choy Yeng is asked to have a look at Lum Tse Yun but there is nothing much he can do. He administers accupressure in hope of sustaining his life but he warns that Lum might not have long to live and takes leave. Devastated, Lum Kuin resigns to fate and goes about preparing for his funeral. Fah, on the other hand, refuses to believe that he is dead. Just then, Lum rises from the bed and jumps out of the house like a zombie, going in search of Chun Tsui Han, another magician who had previously cast a spell on him.
    (2) Fah Wan Hong follows Lum Tse Yun to Chun Tsui Han's hut. Chun is mesmerized by Fah's beauty and takes an interest in her but he is afraid of his wife, Lai Hor. He knows however, that Lai Hor likes handsome, young men and suggests that she can have Lum if she allows him to have Fah. Chun uses a special kind of worms which he had harvested from corpses to revive Lum. To Fah's delight, Lum wakes up but Lai Hor immediately takes possession of him. At this time, the spiders which Chun previously took from Cheung's house turn vicious on him as Cheung has returned for a confrontation. A fight ensues but they eventually agree to stop when Cheung offers Chun some money in exchange of Lum.
