Synopsis :

Gam Xim's parents plan to turn away a young scholar, Ngan San Man, who goes to them for help. Gam is betrothed to Ngan but her maid overhears that her parents want to turn Ngan away and marry her off to an unattractive and shallow man, Fong Guan Han. Gam writes a letter to Ngan to arrange a meeting. But the letter and Ngan’s paper fan land in Fong’s hands. When Gam sends a maid, Tsao Hong, to meet Ngan, Fong turns up instead. In a turn of events, Fong kills Tsao and leaves Ngan’s paper fan and Gam’s letter at the crime scene. Ngan is arrested for murder and Gam hangs herself out of guilt for sending Tsao to her death and knowing Ngan has been framed.
