NHB Friends of Heritage award recipients 2008

Puan Noor Aishah Bte Md Salim, the widow of Singapore’s first President, the late Yusof bin Ishak was named Partner of Heritage for donating some 3,000 photographs, negatives and colour slides taken in the 1950s and 1960s. This rare collection includes photographs of family and friends, events of personal importance to him - for instance his pilgrimage to Mecca, and official events he attended. The majority of these photographs were personally taken by President Yusof Ishak, who was also an avid photographer.

The Teo family, represented by Mr Teo Yeow Seng, Mr Teo Kheng Seng and Ms Teo Soh Lung, were named Friends of Heritage for donating an extensive collection of 26,000 photo-negatives and 38 original photographs belonging to their late brother, the famous Singaporean portrait photographer the late Teo Poh Seng, who was popularly known as PS Teo. The images range from the 1950s to early 1990s and consist of the portrait photographs taken by PS Teo in his Studio DeLuxe, a family owned photo studio. The collection also includes negatives of his art photography and some color photography PS Teo experimented with in the 1980s and 1990s.
